Coach David Thorpe has over 30 years' experience working with professional basketball players, the last 20 with NBA players. He is one of the most respected basketball minds in the sport and has been referred to as “The Godfather of Player Development,” with a national publication naming him as one of the most influential people in the NBA. He invented the modern player development business 30 years ago and has a curriculum that works very well when delivered virtually. His NBA players, nearly 100 strong now, made and are still making what amounts to over $1 billion in contract salaries. Thorpe was a prominent writer and voice covering the NBA for ESPN.com and the ESPN Television/radio platforms for 10 years, and now makes frequent podcast and radio appearances nationally while serving as a partner and analyst for TrueHoop.com, an NBA newsletter and podcast producer that is subscribed to by all 30 NBA teams. He has been interviewed and quoted by major news outlets, to include; The New York Times(multiple times), The New Yorker, NPR, and has made multiple appearances on the most popular NBA podcast globally, ESPN’s The Lowe Post.
He has coached NBA and international champions, lottery picks, and NBA All-Stars, along with Olympians and National Team players from America, Africa, China, and Europe. Thorpe also mentors executives and coaches in the NBA as well as some agents and media representatives involved with the world’s best league.
Coach Pete Alexandrou worked under Coach Thorpe for years while serving as a coach in high school and post grad, helping to place over 40 players into college(to include current players on his team) over the past five years, saving those families in excess of $7 million in college costs. He was a three-time All-American college basketball player at the NAIA level and served for a decade as an operations manager for child and family services before pivoting to work full-time in basketball.
