First, we need to see film and statistics as soon as possible. Coach Thorpe will break down the game film, preferably a game or two that represents a good all around effort, along with all relevant statistics. Once completed, Thorpe will inform Coach Alexandrou of where he thinks the best level for the player to flourish is at the college level, and then Coach Alexandrou will process that evaluation and combine it with the academic achievements of the player to see exactly what kind of scholarship or financial aid is available. Every level of college, and the schools themselves, have minimum standards for scholarship eligibility, as well as advanced aid availability based on academic scores. The better the student at the D2 level and below, for example, the more aid that is available to the player and family. Income level for the parents matter as well in some cases.
At that point, we need to talk. A live-video call between our coaches and your family will take place, where we will present our findings and recommendations going forward. We will also outline what we will do on our end should you want to join our program. Recommendations for the player will be shared upon an agreement between the parties so that the athlete can begin making immediate progress on the court and off. Please note that the on-court recommendations, and some of the off-court ones, are directly derived from the PTC curriculum for our NBA players. The goal is to produce better results as athletes and leaders, the kind of players we know college coaches are looking for. Our high school players will be getting direct guidance from Coach Thorpe, and can ask questions to help grow their games. That interaction is key, and unique, setting PTC-R apart from other places hoping to help players find scholarships.
